Version 2026-10-23 · 23 October 2026
(Same version as the ZipCert Privacy notice.)
These terms are between you (the business using ZipCert) and ClearDeck Limited, company no. 17475729, registered in England and Wales. Registered office: 55 Markwell Wood, Harlow, CM19 5QZ. ZipCert is a ClearDeck product, served at zipcert.uk and zipcert.cleardeck.uk.
Questions: andrew@cleardeck.uk
1. Who ZipCert is for
- UK electrical businesses and sole traders only.
- You use ZipCert for your business, so consumer cooling-off rules do not apply.
2. What ZipCert does
- ZipCert is software for writing and issuing electrical certificates (EICR, EIC, Minor Works and other types).
- You produce your certificates. The person who signs a certificate is responsible for the readings, results and everything else on it.
- ZipCert's regulation prompts are advice only. They may be incomplete or wrong for your job. ZipCert does not check, approve or certify your work.
- We are not a scheme, building control or your adviser. Your scheme, Part P and other duties stay yours.
3. Free trial
- 30 days free. No card needed.
- One trial per business. At sign-up we check your email, mobile number, company name with postcode, and your scheme registration number (NICEIC/NAPIT) if you enter one. If they match an earlier trial or account, we may refuse a new trial.
- Near the end of the trial we email you from reminders@zipcert.uk.
4. Day 30: read-only
- If you have not paid by the end of day 30, your account becomes read-only.
- You can still sign in, view and download all your certificates. You cannot create or change certificates until you pay.
- To cancel, you must first use Download all. Cancel works only after that.
5. Prices
No VAT is added (ClearDeck is not VAT registered).
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| Solo (includes you as the first engineer) | £15 | £150 |
| Founding price (see below) | £12 | £120 |
| Each extra engineer | £7 | £70 |
Founding price
- For the first 20 businesses who pay by 31 December 2026.
- A place is only taken when you pay, not when you start a trial.
- Held for 12 months from your first payment. After 12 months we'll move you to the standard Solo price and tell you at least 30 days before.
- Extra engineers are £7 a month on monthly plans or £70 a year on yearly plans (the owner is the first engineer).
6. Paying
- Payments are taken by Stripe, by card or Bacs Direct Debit. We do not see or store your card or bank details.
- If you pay during the trial, the trial ends and billing starts straight away.
- Plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel.
- We will give you at least 30 days' notice of any price change.
7. Cancelling and refunds
- Cancel in the app (after Download all, see 4).
- A monthly plan can be cancelled at any time. There are no refunds for part months.
- A yearly plan is not refunded for unused months.
- This does not affect any rights you have under UK law.
- When you cancel, your account becomes read-only. You can still sign in and download your certificates for at least 6 years after cancelling.
8. Your data and your records
- You can export your data (including photos) and delete your account in the app.
- Deleting your account removes your business's data, including your certificates and photos. We cannot get them back.
- You are responsible for keeping your own copies of certificates. Keep them for as long as your scheme, your clients and the law require. Download them before you cancel or delete.
- Our Privacy notice explains what we keep and why.
9. Your clients' data
When you put your clients' details on a certificate, you are the controller of that data and ClearDeck is your processor. We will:
- use it only to run ZipCert for you, on your instructions;
- keep it confidential and secure;
- use only the subprocessors listed in the Privacy notice, and tell you before adding new ones;
- help you answer your clients' data requests;
- tell you without undue delay if a breach affects it;
- delete it when you delete your account (export first if you need it).
You must have a lawful basis to give us your clients' data.
10. Using ZipCert properly
- Keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for who you invite and what they enter.
- Don't misuse ZipCert, try to break it, or issue false certificates.
- We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or does not pay.
11. Our side
- We run ZipCert with reasonable care and skill.
- We may update ZipCert. We may stop it with at least 60 days' notice, so you have time to download your certificates.
12. Liability
- We are not liable for loss of profit, business or data you could have saved by keeping your own copies, or for work on site or the content of your certificates.
- Our total liability in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in that time.
- Nothing here limits liability that UK law does not allow us to limit.
13. Changes to these terms
- We will show the new version and date here and tell you by email or in the app before important changes apply.
14. Law
- These terms are under the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales deal with disputes. If your business is in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also go to your local courts.
